A full day's entertainment will be available for everyone. In addition to the old engines and farm equipment there will be stalls, a fairground and refreshments including a licensed bar.
stone crushingsaw benchDemonstrations will be set up to show how the old equipment was used in days gone by. A working sawbench, threshing machine, stone crusher and other machinery will be at work.
Ring events and parades will enable all the mobile exhibits to be moved on the field (if weather conditions allow). For youngsters these steaming monsters provide both entertainment and education, a total contrast with the high-tec era of the new millennium we now live in. However, many of the older generation will remember steam rollers at work, while before the last world war steam wagons regularly pounded through St. Albans carrying long distance loads. Steam threshing was carried out at local farms, while steam tractors were used to carry stone, farm produce and even house contents within the area. Some of these machines are now 100 years old, but have been rebuilt many times and will last forever!

fairground rideThe smell of steam and excitement of raw steam power which helped to get Britain's haulage and agriculture where it is today. Also a variety of trade stands to look around and some fairground rides, and a variety of vintage vehicles such as lorries, cars and tractors.

The Herts Steam Club Ltd runs our annual steam show on behalf of the society to bring steam and vintage vehicles to the general public and provide an educational function.

So why not take a day out and visit the Hertfordshire Steam Engine Preservation Societies annual show.

This event will be held in the grounds of Oaklands College, on the A1057 Hatfield Road, St. Albans,
